AT&T Unlocking/iOS Question

Hello,

I have an AT&T iPhone 4S on iOS6. I requested an unlock through the AT&T website and got a confirmation e-mail that the unlock was completed and that I would need to "backup and restore" my phone through iTunes in order to finish the unlocking process. If I do a restore through iTunes, I will be forced to update to iOS7, correct?

If you don't want to restore it, just pop another carrier sim and then connect it to itunes, it will unlock it. If it still doesn't, then keep the other sim in there and restart network settings and connect it to itunes.
