I have recently installed an app called istat menus which monitors different areas of my system and lets me know how and what everything is running at. I have noticed that my fan and temp is really high and i have been wondering is this norm for an imac to run like this and other apps have been running slow(ref pic below). And last night i left my mac running like i normally do so it can run various tasks but for the 1st time i was woken up by the fan which was running very loud i could see any other reason why it was doing it so i was hope someone could help shine some light onto the matter.

The temp is set to read at celsius if that help and i was thinking of vacing the vents just to see if it might be a dust collection that is causing the prob.

I consider 999rpm to be slow and 41°C to be a low temperature. You're saying the fan woke you up? I find that kind of hard to believe.. Either the monitoring isn't working properly or you're super sensitive to sounds.. :)
