Hi guys

I have the new 21.5" iMac with the 4670
I have Win7 x64 boot camped for my games

Now the driver that is installed is 8.641.1.0 dated 24/08/2009

Obviously this is a few months out of dated. I think that Windows Update put this one in when I first installed.

So, I have downloaded the latest version of the Win 7 x64 driver (package 9.12, DriverVer=11/24/2009, 8.681.0.0000)

However, I am having great difficulty trying to get it in.

The auto install wont work, the update driver in device manager wont work, and forcing it to chose a specific model wont work either (says the driver is not for this version of windows).

I have tried everything I can think of, and I'm going grey trying to get it working!

Has anyone else had this problem, or an idea as to a solution?

Thanks

There's a new CAT v9.12 Hotfix driver pack: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/ATICatalyst912Hotfix.aspx

(Unrelated but the next day ATI also released a v9.11 Hotfix for AGP cards: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/CatalystAGPHotfix.aspx - nice support...! :))

You can use the latest drivers from the ATI/AMD website but they won't install properly until you mod them. Download the modtool from this site:

http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

Follow the Vista instructions further down the page but you don't need to disable UAC in Win7 as it's a smarter UAC then Vista. Works great and then you'll have the Catalyst Control Panel as well. Cheers!

Worked a treat!
i did not know that about laptop oems and mobility radeons like!

Just goes to show what proper drivers can do.
My games are running smoother, better and look slightly better too.
Company of Heroes now has trees falling a part when shot, men flying through the air, and bigger explosions!

Hi,

I have the new iMac 27" with i7 (ATI 4850, 8GB RAM, 2TB HD, Bootcamp from SL).
I installed Windows 7 64bit and the Catalyst drivers 9.12 with the moodtools. There is one problem though: The games do run better but the colors seem messed up and stuck in 16bit color mode. You can see it looking at wallpapers and within games (e.g. sky textures). The screen settings say it would be 32bit but it doesn't look like it. When I use the old ATI drivers Windows 7 chooses for my iMac, the colors look fine.
Is there a fix for this? Besides that major issue the drivers do run better then the older 8.1 ones.

I installed "ATI_Win7_Vista_Catalyst10.3_Preview" beta drivers now. Same problem, iMac displays colors 16 bit-ish. Else the drivers run well though, no freezing and resetting of the driver any more like with the official Apple ATI drivers. Anybody know how to get back 32 bit color?

I can't update the ati 4670 drivers on the new imac, Win 7 x64 no matter what I try.

Hello everyone

I have a 27 inch Imac with win 7 x64 on bootcamp. I tried every method that I could find to update my ati drivers. I'm stuck with the default driver from 2009. I tried to mod the drivers - no result ( ati catalyst won't show anywhere on my drive and I tried to use comp manager to force install the driver but the new one is not accepted by the system). I also tried to install the new 10.3 catalyst from ATI which was supposed to work and I get the above mentioned problems. Did anyone found any way of solving this problem?

Thanks
