Just venting.... comments or curse outs welcome
So I'm pricing out the mac pro I'm finally gonna buy. Base model 4 core version. 2499.00. (everyone is dogging the 4 core.. but its perfect for me. I'm just a power user who does a little bit of everything)
BUT, I want to upgrade the video card. I mean if I'm spending this much money, I might as well spend another 200.00 and get the best video card for whatever the future may hold, even though I'm not planning to dual boot into windows for gaming. There's snow leopard and all that jazz...
So I started looking around at where to buy the machine.
IF I buy it at another retailer I can save $200.00 on tax, and another $100 or so in discounts and rebates! Sure, why the heck not right?? I waited this long, I can wait a week for shipping...
BUT, then I can't upgrade the video card, That I gotta get from apple.. but it costs me much MORE that I initially thought.

Amazon: $2468.00 [ no tax no shipping ]
** 4 core Mac Pro with Radeon 4870 video **
Apple Store: $2894.68 [ $2499.00 + $200.00 video upgrade + $195.68 tax ]
SO.. in summary, the friken video card upgrade has a real world cost of $506.68
And I'm here to say that stinks.. while I thought the upgrade was worth 200.00, I seriously do NOT think it is worth five hundred!
Is anyone else feeling my pain??
