I use motion and color a lot.
My mac pro has a 4870 right now.
How much better is a higher end card on the market right now?
In other words... is it worth buying a new card for the performance bump?
(25%+ is good in my world)

so totally not worth it then?

For the apps you talk about (Color and Motion) you're not going to see a huge gain like 25%. For gaming and more general graphics usage you'll get a decent gain. The 4870 is still a good card (equivalent and sometimes better than 5770).

Take a look at Rob's benchmarks: http://barefeats.com/wst10g4.html

Of course a lot of this can change with improved drivers and better software support. I'm sure Final Cut Studio 4 will better utilize OpenCL for added performance boost.
