ATI 5770 non-Apple

does this video card work out of the box on a mac pro 1,1 with OSX lion. I found one on craigslist for $40 bucks but he said he was using it on his PC. I read that with OSX lion it doesn't need to be the apple card and that any ATI 5770 will work. I am really not wanting to flash or make any changes to this card and the price is right...

it should. make sure you have the os fully updated on the drive. then install the card.

The card should work. You just won't get an EFI (Apple logo) boot screen with an non-Apple specific card.

you will need the correct Apple power cable

still not able to get in contact with seller on craigslist....so it looks like this is going to be a no go.
