This is the 06 MP. It has the 667 mhz ram . Can it handle the ati radeon 5870 1 ghz video card? I can get this MP for $899 on z boxing day sale. I would get it if I know I can upgrade the card

Ok, then what if I go with the 5770?

The reason I ask is I have a choice to make, a 2006 MP for $899 or a demo 2010 MP for $2300. The 2010 comes with a 1 year apple care, the 06 comes with 90 day .

I was going to buy a new Mac mini and add 2 g of ram for a total of $850. Now if I can get the 06 MP for .$899, it gives me a reason to think.

Ok, well the 5770 seems fine. The 5870 is not worth the extra $$$

You are lucky. I ordered the 5770 for upgrading my MacPro Nehalem Quad 2.66 but I had severe troubles with the speed of my pci expansion bay fan (2000 rpm). After installing an ATI Radeon 5870 the noise trouble went way.
