ATI 9200 seeing nonexistent monitor when using DVI

I can’t find anyone having this issue, but my ATI 9200 Mac Edition in an Xserve G4 (Slot Loading), running 10.4, 10.5, and and 10.5.9 (Sorbet Leopard mod), always sees a 2nd monitor whenever I use the DVI port. This nonexistent monitor supports 640x480 to 1024x768 resolution, and defaults to the 2nd display. Switching over to VGA fixes the issue, but my VGA monitor is small with poor color, while my DVI/HDMI/DP monitor is way better, just lacks VGA. I tired all the normal PRAM resets and stuff, different OSes, etc. I don’t see anything physically inside the VGA port that could be tripping the pins, but maybe I’m just not seeing it.

Anyone run into this or have any ideas? I could clip the VGA off if it’s tripping it, but I’d rather not.
