I have a 2009 2.66 Quad Mac Pro with the standard Apple ATI Radeon 4870...

a) I've been trying to get some readings about the 4870 card's temperature, load %, power consumption, etc. I have Hardware Monitor - a wonderful app - but it seem's not to provide those readings... I've contacted the developer, and he tells me that the problem lies with the Apple GPU drivers, the card sensors and/or OS X 10.6.

Is anybody here able to get those readings from this particular ATI 4870 GPU? what software are you using to get them?... or is it a general problem with this card and this MP models?

b) I've purchased the low-profile Nvidia GT120 card as a 2nd card for a 3rd and 4th displays... it will arrive today.

Is there anything I should know before installing this card? Can I expect any trouble by running both cards simultaneously? any advice on how to install it (hardware/software-wise)? I've noticed that the GT120 is shorter than the ATI 4870, hence it will not attach to the placeholders in the front fan... will this be a problem, or do I have to purchase a longer base - such as the one the ATI card has?

Thanks for your help!

cheers!
