A local Apple dealer (Fry's Electronics) claimed that they had (and sold) their first 9700 over the weekend. He said it came directly from ATI, and wasn't delivered by Apple.

Is this possible?

It's possible...but was it the version for a Mac?

Well, the salesman...

...said that it was.

Of course, you know the difference between a car salesman and a computer salesman, right?

The car salesman knows when he's lying to you... ;)

According to a reliable Apple source,
The card is to be available exclusively to Apple
and then released for retail sales 3 months after it appears on the Apple
site for the BTO option.

but who really knows?
