ATT boosting 3g speeds

i was reading an article about how ATT wants to put a HSPA+ network in place this year because its 4g wont be ready until 2014, they said HSPA+ will boost 3g to about 7 mbps and will be cheap to put in, will this work on iphone 4

7.2Mbps is HSDPA (3.5G) which is already in the iPhone 4. If AT&T haven't yet done this, then they're way behind.
