If you go to the apple store do they also charge you the extra $50 now for upgrades because of "the japan crisis"? Yes thats what the ATT worker told me at the store today. I was confused because it says I could buy the white phone for $399 on the apple site. If I went to apple would they also charge me $450?

That's crazy and it's also bull ****. Ask to speak with the manager.

What about taxes, activation fee, etc. or did they charge you $450 just for the iPhone. If they did, I would take it back immediately.

AT&T and Verizon price hiked the phones, while Apple still charges the original price.
This is why I'd never buy from the provider's store.

AT&T did increase their prices right after the Verizon iPhone was announced. When Verizon was known to be charging 649 and 749 for the iPhone full price, AT&T also increased their prices too. Apple still charges 399/499 for early upgrades and 599/699 for full price for both AT&T and Verizon.

Awesome thanks guys. I called his bluff when I bought the phone and he said if Apple will charge me 399 then I should call him and he will get it taken care of.

AT&T announced a while ago they were raising the prices of phones bought off contract

Sells person was talking out their ass. AT&T announced the price increase good while before the earthquake.

AT&T's new policy is the regular price of $199.99 plus $249 early upgrade fee. Apple online is still charging the $399 for early upgrades.

I bought a white iPhone 4 from the ATT store today and it was 299 plus tax. That's it.

That's for a regular upgrade though. The early upgrade pricing is the w/ a contract price plus an additional $250.

Got it taken care of today, went to Apple to confirm price then went next door to tell ATT about Apple's price and they changed it for me.
