Here is an issue that I am experiencing:

I bought my original 3G iPhone back in August of 2008, and then did an early upgrade for the 3GS in August of 2009. My current best upgrade date is April 2011. I was under the impression from the boards here that all iPhone users with upgrade dates in 2011 will be eligible for the 399/499 pricing. However, when I tried to pre-order today, the 32 GB iPhone 4, my pricing shows up as 699. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

ya im in the same boat as you. i did early upgrade back in june 20, 2009. my upgrade eligible date is 02/20/2011

but this is exactly what i was told back when i researched the issue with ATT CSRs a week ago and read others said you can only upgrade early once every 18 months. the date above is 17 months FYI

but i read the $499 price can be manually overriden in the local store, but YMMV

who knows what 'upgrade early' is anymore.

Yes, the board is littered with threads about this. I went to AT&T and the guy behind the counter told me there was nothing he could do. So $599 it is for me. And as much as I pretended not to want to get it at $599. I still am :)

I'm in the same boat. I called AT&T, and they said I qualify for the $499 32GB model, but I would have to buy it from AT&T. Of course, that didn't work out today, and they are sold out. When I bought a 3GS, they sold it to me for $499, so I'm thinking I can do the same thing for one at the Apple store.
