Att iphone 4s wont connect at 4g?

I been driving around town all day, and my phone has not changed from 3G to 4G... is there a setting i have to enable ??? mine is running 5.0 do i have to update to 5.1??

Yes, but you'll get the same speed ... it just changes the icon to 4G.

The 4G indicator comes with iOS 5.1
You might be connected to an HSPA+ network but it displays it as 3G or older firmware versions.
In other words you will get the same exact speeds, just the little symbol on the top left corner will change.
