Not that im aware of. Verizon uses 700mhz block C spectrum and fcc requires their phone be unlocked. AT&T does not have this requirement as they use different spectrum.

Ahhh ok- I'm assuming there's no news on upcoming jailbreak/unlock for iPhone 5 either...? Thanks.

On one of the imei checker websites, my 64GB ATT iPhone 5 says unlocked. I'd check if I had a nanosim or knew anyone with one.

2 year contract

ATT wouldnot unlock if the iPhone is still in contract, so no dice.

have to wait till two years or after you upgrade to iPhone 5S

It does not matter if you pay how much monthly ($80 or $200)

for this sole reason, lots of guys are jumping to Verizon iPhone 5

I thought there is no unlock available for the iPhone 5...?

You have to find a seller that can add you to the database of unlocked IMEIs, unlock_fusion can do this. I think they're either Apple or AT&T employees who have access to do that.

AT&T's iPhone comes unlocked if you buy it at full price. I ordered mine on pre-order day, paid full price and received the "Congratulation your iPhone is unlocked..." message upon activating it via iTunes.

Interestingly enough, some iPhone 5's bought from Apple Stores for use on the AT&T network while still under contract have been reported as unlocked. There have been several posts on this site to that effect and a friend trimmed and sanded a T-Mob SIMM to confirm that his was unlocked.
