so im going to get an iphone 6 online i ordered the verizon one, but the dude said they are out and have att iphone 6 if i wanted. can i activate with my prepaid verizon account just by popping in the verizon sim card that is already activated?

You'll need to request that ATT unlock the phone. If you bought on subsidy they won't. Paying for it outright they may.

Did the seller indicate that its unlocked? Buying it used, muddies the water, because if the seller's account on ATT is not in good standing they won't unlock it. Plus I think the seller (if he was the original owner) needs to request the unlock

When anything on eBay deviates from normal, bail as quickly as possible.

Part numbers are the same for ATT and Verizon phones , just need to unlock ATT phones to work on Verizon.

Word I heard is that only a Verizon phone will work on the Verizon network. It's not a question of lock/unlock, but rather that Verizon does not have the phone's IMEI in their database and will NOT add it.

** edit ** I see threads here with conflicting info about a non-verizon iPhone working on Verizon. If you want an iPhone to work on Verizon just buy a Verizon iPhone and avoid activation issues **

If you have an active Verizon Sim you can use any unlocked iPhone 6 or 6+ on the Verizon network. The lte cdma and gsm bands are the same.

Word you heard is false.
It all depends on the iphone model.
With the release of the iphone 6 and 6 plus models all unlocked iphone 6 phones work on verizon.
They don't need to add anything to their database besides sticking an activated verizon nanosim inside the unlocked iphone 6.

So if you have an already activates sim you can just place it in any iphone 6, you should be okay. Maybe except sprint which is locked in the us.

Thanks for clearing it up. I swear that it is so difficult to keep track of the **** details... it's like the carriers make it as difficult and confusing as possible, especially when it comes to trying to compare plans and such.
