So like some other I left unimpressed with the iPhone reveal yesterday, and I have decided to move to an SE instead of the newer iPhones.

I'm currently using a 6s with a recently cracked screen on the NEXT program for ~$25/mo. In order to upgrade my device on the NEXT program I can pay the $150 to fix the screen, turn in the old device, and pay ~$13/mo for 2 years to pay the full SE price for a total price of $500 over the life of the phone. My question is, is there any reason I can't just buy the ATT prepaid iPhone SE for 139.99 and just pop my SIM card in and use it right away? I would continue to pay the last 6 months of my 6s for $25/mo (total of $150). Leaving me in the end with my broken iPhone 6s as a back up, a new SE, and saving $210. I feel like I'm missing something.

Thanks

No problem using a "Prepaid" AT&T iPhone SE on your post-paid account. Only minor issue is that you are breaking the "Terms of Service" of the Prepaid iPhone SE by not using it on a Prepaid plan.

will it matter if i move it to a post paid account as soon as i can?

i have read that you can use it on a postpaid account after paying one month of the prepaid fee
That's Verizon. AT&T, you can just pop in your postpaid SIM and having it working right away. Note, sometimes Best Buy doesn't scan these properly so prepaid iPhone SE might be flagged as stolen in AT&T's database so they might suspend your postpaid SIM.

From Slickdeals
Will work with a post-paid AT&T SIM right away- as long as Best Buy has notified AT&T of the sale. If not, please send a copy of your receipt, IMEI and your tel# to gophonesolution@att.com or attprepaidsupport@att.com. Otherwise, the phone may appear to be working but in fact doesn't display the LTE logo on top (i.e. no cellular data), and outgoing calls would be directed to AT&T device restriction department.

The phone can be UNLOCKED by AT&T AFTER 6 months of AT&T prepaid service for sure, hopefully after 6 months of AT&T postpaid too.

thanks for the info

so - with att do i still have to pay a month of prepaid?
if so, how much is that.., and how/where do i pay it?
best buy has the gold for $129.99 - seems pretty cheap...

With AT&T, no need to pay for one month of prepaid.

I think the Gold is Simple Mobile.
