Did anyone who purchased an Air today on ATT Next either in store or online confirm (or not), if ATT did a credit check on those who are ALREADY a customer?

As I was checking out this morning online, it asked for my ssn but I couldn't determine if they actually pulled a credit check. Called and a specialist couldn't tell me (said someone will call me back), wtf??

I was required to enter in my SS# when I ordered online, but the fine print said it could run my credit based on my account and what I was ordering. So I am not sure if it actually did.

Not sure about AT&T but I know T-mobile doesn't check credit if you already have an account with them as long as it's in good standing.

I would venture to say odds are if they are asking for your SS# they probably pulled your credit.
Only one way to know for sure - check your credit report. I'm thinking if you've been a long time customer and have always paid your bill on time, the automated system might just base it on that instead of pulling your credit report.

They didn't credit check me. However, they did require me to call in and verify my identity, which was weird.

I went through the process online signed in under my account and as a new customer.

When I was signed in and was going to add it to my account I was not asked for my SSN. When I did it as a new account I was asked for it.

I didn't complete either purchase, was just checking.

Also, I talked to a rep at my local store. She said they "usually" use your payment history, not your credit if you are a "long time customer".

Take that as you will.

Just got back and no cheek for me. However have been a wireless AT&T customer for about 10 years.

....just to add. It has been a while since my last visit to an AT&T store. Every time has been at best BAD and dreadful. Poor service structure that seemed confused and haphazard. WOW AT&T has improved. Now they have a greeter that schedules you and takes requests. Then you get a rep that gives you full attention at an informal table setting. All transactions are paperless, done on an iPad and is VERY efficient. While not an exact Apple store experience it seems AT&T has been greatly influenced.

I agree, their customer service is very good. They have upped their game as a company in the last few years.
