I was wondering if I can activate a 5S iPhone without the phone with me? I plan on walking into an ATT Store today with only an ATT sim card and the IMEI number. Also, would I be able to port an active number from T-Mobile which is activated on one of their pre-pay plans? The monthly plan ends tomorrow, the 15th. Should I wait after the 15th. to do this?

I was told by an ATT manager that an account number was required to port a number over, but when I check the pre-pay receipts I was given by T-Mobile, there was no account number to be found. I wouldn't think a pre-pay plan would be designated an acct.# since people on these plans come and go.

Thought? Thanks.

Log on to your account online, there will be an account number. If not, then call Tmo customer support. And yes you can activate a SIM card without the actual phone, you just need the IMEI so ATT can make sure its not a stolen phone you're using.
