Go to your first link and watch what address it redirects to. It's different isn't it? They are temporarily using an SSL version of just att.com or something.

It goes to http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/welcome/index.jsp, yes. But I'm pretty sure that's what wireless.att.com usually redirects to.

Maybe they are going to put up a way to buy iPad service through the AT&T website (and have it show up on your cell bill if you want it that way?) instead of having to activate service on the iPad itself and having it go to a credit card.
