Just switched and having a couple problems hopefully someone can help with before I get involved with the Verizon store. And cancel my account and go back to ATT.

I ported 3 lines from ATT.

1. I cannot send texts from my iPhone to an Android phone. Tried using just SMS in iMessage settings. The only thing I found on this was someone finally had to call Verizon tech support and they saw a block on his account affecting the texts. Even though he did not see it on his account when he signed in on web. I show no blocks either. Anyone else have this issue and how did you resolve it?

2. On billing--I just ported the lines on the 11th of August. My first bill is ready and shows the amount due 3 Sept as from the period 12 July thru 11 August. Was not with them at that time?????????

3. Lastly, my son's iphone 7 is one that won't work on Verizon even if unlocked. So, we got an iPhone 8. With incentives/trade-in, were suppose to pay 17.00/mos for two years. The new bill shows 30.00. Is that bc we haven't turned in his iPhone yet, pending wiping it. And, when that happens it will drop to 17.00?

Thanks for any insight

Sounds like AT&T was not that bad. I have been pretty happy with them for years.

They weren't. But, I had no reception in a grocery store were I need to shop. I do the shopping as my wife is handicapped. We need to be able to communicate there. Very important to me.

I will, just looking for insight on some of these issues before I talk to them.

Someone who had similar issues. Or, understands the billing problem I mentioned.

Part of what keeps me from switching to another carrier is all the fine print, conditions, rebates, etc. what they advertise is not what you always get. And then when you do talk to a representative they will tell you one thing, and then when you call back somebody else will tell you something different.

Do you have the terms for the purchase of the iPhone in writing? If you were told that the phone would only cost $17 a month was that verbally or as a part of the contract? Should be able to find the terms and information there so when you do call Verizon you will have something to fall back on. Good luck.

I have seen some advertisements where it is said for example that the phone would cost $20 a month and you would see the discount within three billing cycles. That type of fine print is what I always read before committing.

Your billing cycle most likely includes a prorated period of time. In other words they show you the whole month's billing cycle but should only be charging you for the period of time that the phone was activated until the end of the billing cycle. I'm sure you have activation fees as well.

I went ahead and reset network. I saw that as an option, but didn't seem to work for anyone on the forum. Seems to have worked for me.

I have no printouts. Will get them today. Think the billing may be an error on website. When I scroll down further in finer print, the dates seem to be correct. Hard to see on my iPhone without expanding screen.

Just need to resolve the 30.00 instead of 17.00 payment. That hopefully will correct after we trade-in iphone.

Thanks for all the inputs---

Thats interesting, verizon was the one with no reception for me in my region. Importance of going eith who has best coverage in your area and not by popularity.

As for other problems, my personal rule of thumb was always to go with that carriers branded new phones...ive had too many weird issues when taking phones with me in the past. But thats just my opinion. But that fine print is generally where they get you.

All iPhones are are working great now. After Network Reset on mine. Mine is an unlocked model bought from Best Buy. And son now has the Verizon 8. But, when we go back to finish this up, trading in his iPhone, we may get the 256gb 8. We got he 64gb, but he wants more storage. Can't blame him.

Stopped by to see the Manager today, but he was busy and wife was waiting in car. Sales Rep said the 30.00 instead of 17.00 2 year monthly charge for the 8's balance due will readjust by second statement. Will reconfirm that with Manager tomorrow.

Just need to see if we will turn in the 7 or can get same or more for son's old Samsung S4. Verizon's website says 300.00 for either.

All in all think I assorted and ready to finish this up tomorrow. Thanks for all the advice----

Yeah, not favoring one over the other. Had no issues with ATT except the one area I really needed it. CS was always helpful. I know every carrier is going have their dead spots. I go to Cleveland next week and south eastern Pa in a few months. Hopefully, all works well on those trips too.
