Carrier ATT unlimited data plan

i have two phone lines. One is unlimited data plan and the other one is 3gb data plan.

ATT website says the unlimited data plan still one year away from upgrade. The 3gb data plan is contract free.

Is there any benefits for me to use the 3gb data plan phone line to buy iphone 7? Will the ATT next give me any monthly discount?

If you change to the next, I am almost positive that you entire account will now share data. Meaning you lose your unlimited data plan on your first line.

Isn't Next just a device contract and has nothing to do with the service the phone is tied to?
