Anyone have any luck getting the $18.00 fee waived when they upgraded their iPhone? If so what tactic did you use....Just ask, tell them they did it for a friend etc....

I have always in the past but when I tried on 2 separate occasions after purchase of white iphone they said they were cracking down on it. This was over the 611 number. I was going to wait until I get my bill and try again...

they waived it for me... called the 611 and they said they would document my bill summary page well and when I upgraded, they would wave the fee... (upgraded to white iphone 4 from 3G)...

Why not just pay the $18.00 and get it over with? Honestly, $18.00 isn't bad at all. It's really nothing.

Because that $18 becomes $25 in the future...and on and on it goes.

It's a purely profit move by all the cell phone carriers especially if you order online and get zero help "setting up" you phone.

Tmobile USA is even worst. $35 for upgrade fees.

What exactly are they doing to justify this upgrade fee?

That being said they stopped waiving my upgrade fees after 2009.

They should give us $18. when we upgrade. I mean its only $18.00 whats the big deal come on now, dont tell me ATT cant afford it.

I thought it was $36, and when I bought my iPhone 4 in December the guy waived it for me. I didn't do anything particular, I just came up to him, knew exactly what I wanted, was polite and made his job really easy (and probably earned him a nice commission with minimal work on his part).
