Spoke with an ATT sales person this morning, after picking up the iPhone 1.0; they said ATT just released information allowing FAN/Employee discounts on current phone. I am NOT aware if this will go in affect with current users or if only new users.

That being said, they also said people after the May 27th date, will allow to upgrade their phone to 3G but will be required with a new contract AND/OR are not aware of pricing yet.

The AT&T memo that went out to all retail locations two days ago states:

"IRU service discounts for both voice and data pans will apply to iPhone 3G, but not 2G iPhone."

Which seems to say that, as before, 2G iPhone plans don't get a discount. I'm guessing you could put a 2G iPhone on the new $30 plan and then get the discount, but I'm not sure why you would want to do that.

Well I am aware of the memo; but I just added my employee discount to my iPhone 1.0...

This was confirmed in-store with two reps and I even added to my account once I activated my phone.

Hmm.
