Recently I was booting my 2014 MBP from an external drive and I felt that it's not heating up as much as when booting from the internal SSD, and I felt this could be because the internal SSD isn't running, it isn't heating up, so that there's that much less heat to deal with.

So if I attach an SSD to the back of the monitor using this mounting system, https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/env...n=cj&cjevent=51baf14cdff011ea811a033b0a240613 , instead of installing it inside, would that help with lessening overheating and fan noise?

And since my 2014 would not be compatible with that thunderbolt cable, could another compatible cable be attached to the mounting system, or would the mounting system only work with the cable that comes with it? (would the cable not be detachable?)

However I heard NVMe SSD give off a lot of heat so I imagined it would probably contribute to overheating and fan noise.

I thought it wouldn't be compatible because of the cable used with the enclosure. But looking at the picture I thought it would be possible to detach the cable and replace it with a compatible cable?
