I am going to condense this as much as I can. For several years, I was into buying and selling Movies Anywhere/iTunes digital codes to grow my iTunes movie collection to over 1,000 titles. We live in Canada but for this, I used my wife's old US account because the US code game was always much better. Fast forward to 2025 and I don't sell codes anymore and rarely even buy them due to films hitting streaming services so quickly and just a change of hobbies. I would like to stop using this US account altogether since we have a Canadian family share group and use it for literally everything else Apple-related.

I just learned today that you can move purchases between accounts now. This is what I'm mulling over.
Step 1: Change the US movie account into a Canadian one. I understand not all movie purchases will stay attached to the account, but that's okay. I believe the majority would.
Step 2: Transfer the iTunes movie purchases from this account to my main Canadian one (I know my main account would have to be removed from the family share first)
Step 3: Change the movie account back to the US region so I can still access any titles that did not migrate with the region change.

Am I missing anything? Are there other risks I'm not factoring in with this plan? Any advice is welcome.

Apple made this somewhat confusing by using the word "migrate". You're not actually migrating or moving anything; you're essentially just linking your accounts.

Someone would have to confirm, but my guess is that both accounts would need to remain set for the same region. (If that wasn't the case, then why would it be a requirement in the first place?)

You could always do the "migration", and if it doesn't work out the way you'd like, you can undo it (unlink the secondary account). Just be aware that you won't be able to "migrate" again for a year.
