Hey all,
Don't know if this has been picked up in the English speaking community but as people may have noticed Japan's Apple gift cards have now merged so that store and iTunes are now one gift card.
If you don't live in Japan theres no point in reading further.
Anyways convenience stores occasionally run 10% promos on Apple gift cards - about 4 times a year. Up untill now you have got the credit back as a bonus code but this time around start of January it was hard cash....well electronic money charge.
This means that combined with the 2 day Hatsu Uri sale I got an amazing deal on Air Tags 4 set and a Apple TV - 9,000 yen from Apple and then a further 10% back from 7/11 so I ended up getting 34% cashback roughly on a 3man purchase with both combined. It was more actually as I bought an iPhone 13 but that wasn't included in the Hatsu uri sale.
You buy a variable gift card - NOT a set amount
Max charge 100,000
Max cards per e-mail x5
Max possible cashback 50,000
You MUST register the gift card on the special website by the date specified or it wont work - they also limit charges to 20,000 yen per device to stop profiteering.
14 days later I got the 10% (for me 15000 yen roughtly back in Suica charges from a 7/11 ATM - whilst its not hard cash Suica and other electronic money is as good as cash for a lot of purchases eg konbini / drug store.
The next possible window is end of April ish according to www.itc-check.com
However the best value will be next 2nd Jan with the next sale from Apple assuming you buy a relevant product
