ATV 3 Very Slow When Connected to ACD HD 23"

I connected my ATV 3 to my Apple Cinema Display HD 23" via HDMI to DVI cable. While the display works, the ATV is very slow to respond to the remote and is overall borderline unusable. When I connect the ATV to a regular HD TV, all works fine.

Is there any workaround to this or as I expect, are they just not designed to work together?

The HDMI to DVI cable works fine when I use it to connect my MBP to the ACD.

Have you played around with outputting different resolutions to the ACD? I would be curious to know how it responds when you feed it 720p.

I haven't but I'll try it asap at the weekend and report back.
