why do we have loads of VPN apps is the iOs store, but none for ATV

Because not needed, has little purpose?
You aren't going to be checking banking/financial/health stuff on your appletv from a public wifi spot.

On iOS, you don't need an app, VPN is built into the OS. I do it to my ddwrt server all the time.

VPNs are used for more than that....think Region changing for Netflix and NFL GamePass for a couple.

Because the Network Extension framework (which is used by apps on iOS to create custom VPN configurations) is not available on tvOS.

I’m hoping someone brings out a VPN app, it won’t last long as it will get pulled
But if we can get it installed early, then it solves my outside of the UK problem

Most of the time you don't need everything going through a VPN - just specific devices.

Can't you use a DNS service like Unblock-Us to make the ATV think you are in the USA?
