Folks,

My ATV 4K is connected to my Denon X2200W and both the devices have the latest/greatest firmware that supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. I am seeing a strange thing though when I play non-Atmos movies (both streaming or using my Infuse app). For all non-atmos movies, my Denon only displays & plays 2-channel stereo. On the ATV 4K, if I turn OFF Dolby Atmos, then the non-atmos movies play in the format they are encoded in, like TrueHD or DD 5.1 etc. However I lose the ability to play Dolby atmos encoded streams if dolby atmos is turned OFF. Has anyone seen this issue with ATV 4K and their Denon AV receivers and if there are any settings I need to tweak to get this to work properly. I hate going into settings to switch things manually when I play a non dolby atmos encoded stream. Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I don’t think Infuse has much functionality on audio side as of this writing.
How do you get TrueHD playback on aTV 4K?
I have tried but to no avail.
Audio passthrough on Infuse was broken on tvOS 12 when I last tried.
Have there been any changes since then?
On appleTV I am only able to play Atmos if stream is encoded in DD+
And aTV only outputs this as multichannel PCM (special MAT encoding for Atmos).
So it takes me by surprise that you are able to play TrueHD tracks. Unless you let Plex to decode it to PCM multichannel first. In that case, you should see PCM being received on Denon.
