I really want to purchase an ATV, but at present I don't have a digital TV, nor do I plan to buy one until later this year.

That being said, can I still use the ATV's component video outputs to connect to an analog TV until I do get a flat screen of some sort? If so, do I lose some features?

I've had an Elgato video capture box and EyeTV on my 20" iMac for some time, so I would really like to be able to utilize this to stream video to my TV from the iMac via the ATV if possible.

I am in the same situation as yourself. What you have to be careful of is that you do not get composite and component cables confused. Almost all TVs have composite (red yellow and white) while only a few CRT TVs have component connectors (red blue and green). However I have just purcahsed an AppleTV to SCART adaptor (search google for it) and that will allow me to connect an AppleTV to a SD TV.

If this is your situation then check your connectors first.

As for loss of features I don't think you will looseanything, apart from resolution of course!
