I just picked up the new Apple TV 4K. I installed it yesterday and am running it with a Samsung KS8000 TV. I am running the Apple TV video in 4K HDR 60 Hz 4:2:2. Audio settings I am using Dolby 5.1 versus best available since I only have a 5.1 speaker system. I bought new HDMI cables that are certified to support 4K and HDR.
I haven’t watched a 4K movie yet but have viewed some of the trailers. They all look and play good.
Last night, we watched an episode of NCIS on there. (The episode was purchased through the tv series). The video and audio were terrible. The video did not play smoothly and seen the jitter and freeze. The audio was not synced and by the end of the 45 minute show was almost 2 seconds delayed.
I am aware that the new Apple TV upscales all non 4K HD videos. Figuring this might be the problem, I paused the video and made several video settings changes. I changed the 4:2:2 to 4:0:0, changed the 4K HDR 60 Hz to 24 Hz and even went as far to change to 4K SDR. None of the changes made any differences to the video played or the audio sync issue.
I know the Apple TV 4K is new but can anyone out there maybe tell me what I am doing wrong or any recommendations?
