Oh no, not another airplay thread!

I have a MBA mid 2011 and Apple TV 2 (MC572LL/A) Apple TV Software: 5.0.2 OS Build Version 5.1.1 and when I set everything to airplay the TV screen just turns black. If I have sound playing it will successfully play through the TV but no video. Occasionally you will see an image (1 out of every 10 attempts) of the screen but then it just kicks airplay off. I have the most recent mini (late 2011 i think) as well and i get the same results.

I am stumped, I restored my Apple TV thinking that would help but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

update:

I plugged the atv in using network cable instead of wifi and it seems to be working. All devices are within 20 feet of access point and are connected via wireless N. Any suggestions fo rme? Thanks and I hope this helps others as well.

What sort of network gear do you use?

Possibly some sort of slowdown on your wifi network?

I have both my ATV2 and my iMac hardwired to an Airport Extreme and the Airplay quality is pretty good with minimal lag.
