This is happening quite often that I stopped using the 4th gen Apple TV and went back to my Roku 2 (2015). I was watching supernatural the other day and it froze
Where it showed Bobby in the wheelchair when Dean and Sam were talking.
I though it was kind of weird that there was no movement. I was able to get it to work again by rolling it back a bit or reload the program.

It has happened with movies too. Also a few times when it shrunk the credits and tried to get them full screen the app froze.

My video went out watching Jessica Jones last night. I had to scrub around and start the video in other locations for it to comes back. Annoying to say the least.

not just you. the app has been unstable since the beginning. mine freezes as well now (not all the time but enough)

This ap is the worst:

- Subtitles coming back after you disabled them
- No video, audio continues
- Random freezes (spinning wheel) during playback
- Messages like Content could not be played or found
- A video crashes, you hit menu etc start a new one and I even managed to have the audio of the previous played in the background as well.

Reinstalling the app seems to solve it for a while. My theory is that there is a serious buffering bug. Maybe they are loading content in persistent memory in the background and somehow this buffer gets corrupted after a while.

Does complaining to Netflix actually helps ? I have no interest into talking through a problem solving list with some useless customer service on the phone.

BTW, I also read that Netflix moved their servers to Amazon. Could this be a cause for more instabilities ?

Don't call Netflix they will blame your router and blaming your ISP. I say but other services stream fine and they give me some BS scripted answer that you are not getting all your packets and that we stream different that the "other" services.

You think Netflix is bad, try the MTV app. I can't make it through a single episode without an issue unlike Netflix where I may have a problem once or twice a week. Mainly MTV's problem is streaming related where it stops to buffer mid-show and/or will be grainy. I'll immediately get on speedtest and it shows me at my max 30mbps down rate. Get back on MTV and the issue persists. Luckily there's only one show I watch on it, the Shannara Chronicles.

I am done with Netflix for the new Apple TV. Besides the freezing and crashes it looks like crap when a crisp HD picture turns into a fuzzy VHS mess.
