Hi all
I'm having trouble using AU Lab in conjunction with Soundflower and my Apogee Ensemble firewire sound interface.
I am trying to route sound from my computer (iTunes, Spotify, DAW etc) through AU Lab using Soundflower before reaching my Apogee Ensemble interface. However I'm hearing no sound and not seeing any level on the input or output of AU Lab when I do this.
Let me run through the process:
Playing music from iTunes:
System Preferences -> Sound - Ensemble selected as Output device - I hear iTunes through speakers as expected.
With a microphone plugged in, I can hear the microphone through Ensemble and see the level input and output in AU Lab.
If in System Preferences -> Sound - I select Soundflower (2ch) as my output device. I hear nothing. (As expected)
In AU Lab I then choose Soundflower (2ch) as input, and Built-In Output for Output. It works as expected. I can hear iTunes through the computer's built in speakers.
However if I set the Output of AU Lab to Ensemble; I can no longer hear iTunes. And both the input and output meters in AU Lab show no level. But I can still hear the microphone and I can still see an input and output level on the meter for the microphone. But not for iTunes.
Interestingly - the GUI of the input seems to change to match that of the output. e.g. when Built-In Output is selected for Output, and Soundflower (2ch) is selected for input - it shows 2 available channels for Soundflower (2ch) input and the same for the Built-In Output. However if I set the output as Ensemble, Soundflower (2ch) input displays multiple inputs including 8 Optical channels (Mirroring the Ensemble output)
I am completely baffled! As are Apple support and Apogee support. Your help with this will be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
Alex
