Audacity for windows has a crucial option that the mac version doesn't, i just found out.

Where is the record Wave-in option? is it not available because wav. extensions are a windows thing?

Is there any way audacity can record instead of using the microphone on macs?

serious bummer.

Your Mac uses .aif or .aiff files normally instead of .wav files. I don't know if that will help or not. I don't have audacity installed to look around for what you're talking about.

I've downloaded soundflower but its a little confusing for me.

Well, I supposed ill keep looking somwhere, thanks a bunch.

If I remember correctly you need to set soundflower as the recording device in audacity's preferences. Soundflower will probably need to be running at the time.
