I have the Series 5 wifi and audible books won't play and never have. they do play on the iphone. The volume button has a half yellow circle around it. I am wondering if that has anything to do with it, however I can not come up with anything. I didn't find any answers on the Audible site. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I have similar issues with the audible app. At least in my case, I am always able to play one audio file but only one. It’s kind of like everything is loaded to your watch but you have to play them in order or not at all. I’d try playing all your files on your watch to see if one of them will play. If it does, that will be the only o w you can listen to. At least in my case, when that one ends, it then starts playing another file but again, only one at a time.

FYI, The volume control doesn’t have anything to do with them not playing.

The Audible Watch app is problematic. However, I'm addicted to Audible books on my Watch while walking/jogging in the pool and so I persevere.

Lots of times a book will sync to the Watch just fine. Sometimes, I get your issue: the book shows it's synced to the Watch on your iPhone and it appears on the Watch in the Audible Watch Library but it won't play. There are two forms of voodoo to fix this:
1. Try force restarting the Watch. Sometimes this works.
2. Remove the book from the Watch and re-sync. This has always worked for me.

I usually have at least three books on my Watch. I have no issues switching back and forth from one to another. There is no "order" they have to be played in.

That’s cool. I wish I could do that.
I'm sorry you can't. The first thing to do is to uninstall the Audible app on your phone/Watch and reinstall it. That may take care of this anomaly. (You'll need to re-sync your audiobooks.)

Thanks, I've uninstalled & reinstalled Audible multiple times on my watch. I didn't even realize that any books played the first few times I reinstalled it, as the book I tried didn't work. This time around, I just happen to try the right book and it worked. I don't remember if it was watch os 4 or 5, but I used to listen to Audible with zero problems. Oh well, I can still listen to them at least, but just not in the order of my choosing.
