Audio and Video out of sync upon import into iMovie; is there a fix?

Lately I've noticed that while the video on my iPhone is fine, when I import the video into iMovie, the audio and the video is out of sync. I think it's because of a "variable frame rate" thing, but I don't know how to turn that off. Any help would be great.
