I'm thinking of buying one of the Elgato products for my new iMac but am having trouble figuring out which one is best suited to my needs. I would appreciate any suggestions!
I have a digital cable box (Time Warner DVR) and a TV (not high definition) near my iMac. Mainly I would like to transfer programs from the DVR to the computer and burn DVDs (I have Toast). The ability to receive over the air HD programming via the tuner would be great but I am concerned that in my location (NYC) I'll have a hard time getting anything over the air. So one downside of the products is that I'll be paying for the over the air tuner and I won't be able to make use of it.
Do the products come with an antenna and is it any good?
Also the computer is about 5 feet from the TV/DVR - I don't know how long the breakout cables for the products are, but I guess I'll need something that lets me connect the devices.
