I recently had to get my 1st gen iPod touch replaced and I have noticed that the audio is much clearer than my old one. Did apple change audio chipspart way though the production of the first gen touch? I now sounds on par with my moms new iPod nano.

yes i think i read on ilounge somewhere that they did indeed change the audio:) chip

They definitely changed it in the second gen, but I find it odd if they suddenly changed it during the production of the first gen. I never noticed any difference between either of my first gen touch's, which were a week 40 (2007) and a week 16 (2008) respectively. The moment I started listening to my second gen I noticed a huge difference in quality.
