Hey all,

So I've been having a problem with my Mac (OS X 10.5.5) and its audio system. I just had my DVD player replaced and now it's been having major audio problems. From time to time, it will make a popping or "clicking" sound in which it freezes all video for that duration, almost a "laggy" feel. The audio then goes out completely. This has happened only with DVDs in the past but now I realize that it's been happening to youtube videos and such.

Another problem is that when I click Audio MIDI Setup, the headphones are recognized as the internal speakers, which means that whenever I plug in the headphones, the sound comes from the speakers...and not the headphones. But this also isn't consistent. It keep switching back and forth.

Weird problem. Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks.
