I’m having an issue where after I watch a stream with Dolby Atmos when going back to a stereo source the audio will cut in and out once a second until I play a source with 5.1 sound then it will go back to normal. I have a Sonia Arc and LG CX if that’s helpful.

thought I was going crazy and tried 4 different cables. I found something on a LG forum where it’s a recognized bug apparently to be fixed in dec. They said the work around is to turn off atmos on the apple tv.

Is it an LG bug or Apple TV?

Same issue here, and it seems worse since the latest Apple TV update. I’m also using an LG GX and Sonos Arc, with Sub and rears.

Same stuff.

The CX has an LG soundbar and 4K AppleTV.
In the bedroom is a C9, LG soundbar and 4K AppleTV.

6 - 4K AppleTV's in the house. Same build tvOS. All on 4K HDR etc etc etc.
The CX is the ONLY TV this happens on.

Frustration through the roof when it-st-arts-cut-ting in-an-d ou-t ov-er an-d ov-er. Seemingly completely random occurence, I can't replicate it, it just happens

after you've played something atmos, the next thing is typically the one with the problem.

I've had luck trying a second app, it seems to be the second type of audio post atmos clears it up

so playing clips...
Atmos
5.1 - stutters
5.1 (in different app) - stutters
stereo - fixed

----edit---
so playing around more, and that doesn't seem to hold up,
hopefully whoever has screwed it up will fix it

From what I found LG said it was an issue on their side and that a fix would be coming. I’ve found that after playing somrowitb atmos I have to go to something with DD5.1 and then can play stereo content with no issues.

They’ve released an updated firmware on their Korean site which seems to have fixed the issue. I hope it comes to the US soon.

lg cx, sonos arc, Apple TV 4K, very reproducible. Happens after every time I play a movie with atmos. Current fix is to play a movie without atmos. A bit of a pain but worth it. Supposedly fix from lg is coming.

Which brings up the question... why use Apple TV 4K at all with lg cx? The tv has all the major app’s including Apple TV. Sincere question.

because the AppleTV is not the same as AppleTV, which isn't the same as AppleTV, which isn't the same as AppleTV+
(the device, the app on the aTV, the app on a TV, and the streaming service)

the appleTV+ app on the appleTV pulls from amazon, disney+, showtime, HBOmax, and other apps and puts them in my up next list. The version on the TV doesn't do this unless you subscribe through apple. Which is impossible for some services like amazon.

Apple's rental/purchase store on the appleTV doesn't exist on the TV.

I use an app called channels as my DVR, which doesn't exist on the TV.

I don't think I've had the issue recently, there was an upgrade in the last week or so
I did just try playing atmos and then something else, it seemed to work.

I'm on version 03.11.30
and in the TV's settings
the input the aTV is connected to is set to bitstream
"digital sound out" is set to auto.

I prefer the interface and the remote.

the Apple TV app interface looks the same to me. I am more used to the remote. I’m just trying to figure out if the device has any performance boosts besides Apple TV games that I don’t play

I find the LG interface to be a lot less responsive than the Apple TV one, but maybe I'm just sensitive to those types of things, also I think the interface itself is in HD, not 4K.
