Hi all,

Until very recently, my audio worked completely fine in Songbird and in iTunes, but now I have severe issues with trying to play any audio.

If I load iTunes or Songbird, they will play a few songs and then just grind my whole OS to a halt, often requiring a hard reboot via the power button.

I don't believe it's a sound driver issue, because playing audio, even long audio of up to an hour, on Youtube or via games (Heroes of Newerth, Counter-Strike: Source) does not cause any problems.

It could be format-specific to MP3, but I have no real valid way of testing this.

I have run Search & Repair on my MP3s and fixed them all, but this doesn't seem to have sorted the issue.

The issue does appear to be OS X-specific, as playing audio in my Linux dual-boot overnight did not cause a crash.

I'm on a MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) 17" with an i7, 8Gb RAM running Snow Leopard 10.6.7. iTunes version is 10.2.2 and Songbird version is 1.9.3.

Did you run disk utility?

Did you run the chron tasks?

Did you clean your user cache files?

Basically did you do the basic troubleshooting stuff?

Cheers
