Hi, all.
I have a mid-2009 MBP running yosemite, connected to a USB interface (Mackie Onyx Blackjack). I use REAPER64 for voice recording, and have come to love the ReaFIR plug-in for removing the noise floor, and ReaCOMP for adding light compression.
I have a weekly shoutcast live music show (on radio.starcitizenbase.com). I want to add a gate and compressor to my mic, to remove the faint but audible background noise. I'd hoped I could use soundflower or sound siphon to run my mic through REAPER before it is broadcast by my DJ software (Mixxx). I managed to get the mic to pass through, but without FX.
So, I need something standalone, with either integrated FX, or the ability to take plugins.
I tried NoiseGator, but can't seem to get it to work with my audio interface (it seems to work with the laptops built-in mic, but the second my Blackjack comes into play, the meter locks on to 1.00 and the gate remains closed.
In fact, the only thing I've managed to get to work is Audio Hijack 3. It's $50, though, and I'm reluctant to spend the money on something for this ONE problem (as REAPER functions beautifully for all my other recording needs).
TL;DR -- Is there a free/cheap alternative (OS X 10.10 compatible) to Audio Hijack 3 for removing light background noise from my live broadcasting mic?
Thanks!
