Ok, I no zip about Final Cut Express but I have use other video editing software before, so it's the same basic idea. However, I am having an issue with audio. when I import a video clip (that I know has audio) FCE doesn't recognize that it has an audio track. The file is an mpeg, and I have opened a quick time video and the audio track came thru fine. I wouldn't be so worried about this except for the fact that unedited video's from my wedding do the same thing. Any ideas how to get final cut to read the audio tracks in these videos?

If your source footage is an MPEG format, it is most likely muxed and will need to be converted prior to editing. Try using MPEG Streamclip (freeware) to demux and convert the footage into a format that FCE works with natively.
