Hi I've been trying to use my mini to output sound from my Xbox.

It registers the input but won't output it to the speaker.

I've found some software called linein that will fix the issue, but my question is more WHY I need this software. Surely there is a way in the OS to pass sound from input to output? It seems a pretty basic feature to require 3rd party software.
