Audio only from Youtube app on 3GS

I have a iPhone 3GS that is running iOS 6. The new YouTube app on the iPhone will only play audio on my Apple TV 2. I wish I didn't upgrade to iOS 6. Any ideas? I prefer streaming from my iPhone instead of the YouTube ATV app.
