Audio Out Issue

After upgrading to iOS 10 if I connect my iPad to an audio source's input such as my stereo there is no sound. This worked fine with my iPad in iOS 9. My iPhone 4s is stuck at iOS 9 so it does work with my stereo audio input. I'm not sure what's going on here.

I just tried it again and now it's working. I didn't do anything differently. ???
