Sometimes I cannot play sound on my macbook speakers. When I go to adjust the volume it wont let me do anything and there is a red light in the headphone slot on the left side of my computer. I know the problem with it because I have asked about it on here before. The way I fix it is by putting in headphones and taking them out...this flips some switch inside. The problem is this is only a temporary fix. I was wondering if there was anyway to permanently correct this because it just always seems to randomly stop working. Thanks

The red light is it attempting to send signal through the optical out instead of through the speakers. Is it still under applecare?
Well i am pretty sure its somewhere in the hardware that decides if it has something plugged in or not, so they would be able to help you with this.
