Audio peaks in FCP

So when i import a song from a cd into itunes and send it to fcp as an aiff file, it shows that it's constantly peaking. When i've done it in pro tools, it also does the same thing, but i've told that it's not actually peaking in pro tools. Is this the same as fcp? since surely a legit song would of been mixed correctly to avoid any peaking.
